The programme is led by the Government of Rwanda and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN).<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>This field visit aimed at assessing the quality of activities carried out in NYABUGOGO EIP, to discuss with beneficiaries on their understanding on the project activities to ensure their ownership hence sustainability of the project.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>This project is being implemented by Environmental Protection, Construction and General Services Company ?&nbsp;EPECOTGE Ltd&nbsp;?via Rwanda Water Forestry Authority (RWFA).<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Participants for this visit were staff from W4Gr, RWFA, EKN, Gicumbi District and EPECOTGE ltd;<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>First of all; they visited forestry activities in Rutare sector where the362,236&nbsp;seedlings of forest species namely&nbsp;<em>Eucalyptus microcorys<\/em>&nbsp;and<em>Eucalyptus camaldulensis<\/em>&nbsp;have been planted on 181.1 Ha. They also visited the agroforestry trees planted in bench terraces in Kageyo sector.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Secondly, participants had a meeting with District authorities especially Vice Mayor of the District in charge of Finance and Economic Development; in this session staff from EKN raised concerns related to ownership, M&amp;E of the project by District and how the catchment plans fall into the district plans. <\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Vice mayor ensured the ownership of project activities because it has created green jobs and the livelihood of populations has improved; he said that the District is trying to merge the district plans and the catchments plans.For the M&amp;E of the project; the Vice Mayor said that the District has nominated District official in charge of environment and natural resources Management to be focal point of this project and will continue to monitor the project till the end.
